i brought a chicken and i was told she was a leghorn
then someone else said she was a bantam but didnt know what breed she was
and since then ive been told she is an orpington and also a white sussex...??
so i was just wondering if anyone had a clue what she is?
she has recently started laying, her eggs are a tinted/light brown and she lays 2 eggs every three days
I'm no expert but Pearl looks more like a white sussex bantam than an orpington bantam to me, she's not fluffy or deep chested enough to be an orp IMHO.
i woyld also say white sussex as i have 4 white birds that i stupidly thought were white sussex as the place i got them from didnt know what breed they were  { well the woman on the till didnt know } and it turns out there are white leghorn and they are the slender in build compared to the sussex man talk about did i do loads of looking on the web to find out   tell you the truth it made me feel very stupid as for ages i was tellign people they were white sussex . 07
the bloke we got her off messaged me bk today and he said if its not a leghorn then it is a hyline w36 but i cant find a good pic to compare so i still ent sure but he did have brown hylines so i might be
In that case, it would make her a hybrid... looks like she's got a bit of a broad breast on her too.
She does look like a White Sussex pullet though! Definately not Orpington. There are some White Orpington pictures here. The bantam version is almost identical in looks but a little smaller of course.
