i think they are silver sussex or maybe black orps or a mix of both but i cud be wrong :-)11

in the first pick the chick has a white patch on his/her chest and on the second pic the black one has a white chest and tummy anf the other chick with the buff/brown head is more of a grey then black and has light bits on his wings and back

cheers :)

Well done on hatching those beautiful chicks, unfortunately I can't help regarding what has hatched, shame the breeder didn;t put the name of breed on the egg for you to identify, although the black chick in photo 2 does look like an orp chick?
Regards Sue

Were there cocks of each breed running with each breed of hen?

yh thats all the chickens he had and they were all running together he said they could either be pure/cross breeds

yh i thought the black ones look like orps or i was thinking silver sussex but then the maran chicks look the same but the egg was to light so i ruled that out unless they are crosses
and the lighter one looks like a blackrock chick (RIR x Plymouth rock) but he didnt have any plymouth rock so i was gonna ask does anyone knos if a RIR x maran would come out looking the same?

cheers :)

i think you will just have to wait and see! :( the chances are they will be cross breeds if he has that many different breeds running together but you should get some interesting results! lets just hope they are all hens!
