My garden is like a muddy swamp by the coop/run :( it has a tarp roof and covered 2 sides, also has area under the coop) however the run is pretty damp i presume from the water logged areas around the coop. I have been scattering some bliss to absorb it but it's a bit of a pointless exercise really! Any ideas on how to improve the situation :?

Could try digging some small drainage trenches by it and fill em with pea shingle and look into making a concrete base in the spring, shouldn't be that much?

mentioning muddy runs is a no go zone for me   i'm trying to forget mine and i cant , i managed to shape my large run into a U shape so the worse part which is the middle is totally out of bounds to all birds but it is still flooded boggy and disgusting the puddles are well :-)03 :-)03 and each time i step onto the slabs and railway sleepers they sqaush an sqeulch under my feet and sink deeper into the mud once all the banties and favs are in the new run i'll be able to open this area up and sort it out once and for all but nothing is drying out and it raining here again as well . it started raining the other afternoon while waiting to put the girls in so i thought i would go into the new run and check for any leaks on the roof and the rain was being blown in one side of the run so i'll need to cover that but i was thinking about using blinds like the ones you would use in the house :-)05 do you reckon they would work easy to use just pull the cords :-)17  up for hot down for wet personally i like the idea and putting slabs agaisnt the bottom of them when its windy will stop them blowing around .

Is yours a walk-in run, or a run attached to a coop, Fuzzyfelt? If the base is very wet, so are the birds, and its very unpleasant for them and for you.The smaller the run, the more of the base will get wet when the rain blows in sideways through uncovered areas, or runs off a roof with no gutter and then blows in. The only answer, especially in a small attached run in winter, is to increase the area of the sides covered by clear plastic tarpaulin. This is effective at giving shelter from wind as well as rain, and so long as one side is left open for air, (one of the shorter ones, perhaps,) the base will dry out better. The clear tarp lets nearly all the light in and is easy to fix. Try Tarpaulins Direct for strong, clear Monotex tarps in many sizes. http://www.tarpaulinsdirect.co.uk/monotex-tarpaulin
