Hi
I have a few pekins, some light sussex bantams, and 2 bantam frizzles. These are Soooo cute, but, when I finally got to pick one of them up at the weekend, she felt absolutely weird - it made my skin crawl. It is such a shame, because I enjoy cuddling and stroking the others, they seem to put up with it!
When we got hens, I was concerned I wouldnt be able to touch them, but if fact it was perfectly ok, and I have come to quite like it. Will I ever get used to the frizzles? I was going to buy some hatching frizzle eggs, but it has put me right off.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

It sounds like a bit of a phobia Venessa?

I've not experienced this but as a thought, maybe you could start by stroking them regularly - just with 2 fingers, then a couple more and slowly get used to them and then move onto holding them?

Hi Tim
great idea, but they are like the bogbrush equivalent of greased lightening!
It may be a phobia, but I didnt mind picking it up the first time - until I got the feel - which was yukk - so that's not technically a phobia
I had thought of trying with chicks, letting the big girls hatch some, seeing if the cuteness factor helped overcome it, and get used to it that way

Hmm yes, tricky one. I would perhaps try to touch them regularly if you can and see if you can get used to it gradually.

It's something completely new and maybe your brain is just getting a bit freaked out by it.

Let us know how you get on though...

Tim
