weird acting chicken

my maran cross chick whos about 7-8 months old now is acting very strange most afternoons for about a week now shes been trying to jump out the run which over 7 foot tall but thankfully its fully roofed so she cant get out but i cant work out why shes doing it , shes housed in the extension of the run with the banties as she was brought up with them and they get on well { she trys to bully them but fails big time :lol: an shes about 6 times the size of them } could it be that she wants in with the big girls now as this afternoon she was making deep clucking noises as they were going to bed as if she really wanted to join them i think it wont be long before she lays as there have been times when shes really checked out the nest boxes as if shes ready .

She desperately wants to lay but can't find anywhere safe and secure to do it Karminski. The clucking noises confirm it. She is not happy with the nesting boxes she's looked at. Perhaps a bit of time on her own with a box full of hay would help.

I'd say the same, checking out for a nesting site. One or two of mine do it consistently even though they're in a well established group and pen.
