Does anyone have good fertile hatching eggs available - want only a dozen to be delivered by post to Banbury OX - or is it too cold to risk sending by post?

Hi cherrycoop. If you Google Quail Hatching Eggs you'll find quite a lot of suppliers by post. As I've just this weekend ordered my own first batch, I can't give personal recommendation yet, but Oldland Quails looks good, I've bought equipment from them, and they do have hatching eggs but you need to ring them rather than ordering via website. see http://www.oldland-quails.com/ or email from their Contact button.
The person I've just ordered from also has a nice website which attracted me see http://willowtreequail.co.uk/default.aspx which is worth a look even if you order elsewhere as it has some good advice on incubation and care.
I don't think cold should affect eggs in the post as long as they aren't frozen, because they have to be kept cool before incubation anyway.
I shall be very interested to hear how you get on, so we can compare notes as we incubate our babies!

EDIT; Sorry i meant to say eBay, not Google, to get list of suppliers.

I will have ... when they start laying properly after the winter!
How patient can you be... :)

Thanks for the replies - I live overseas - on an island in the middle of the Indian Ocean - and have family visiting in Feb who can hand carry the eggs for me so I only have a tiny window of opportunity to get some fertile eggs. There is one breeder here but the stock is too inter bred and I would like to have some quality birds purely as a hobby and for the eggs. Marigold I will check out the links many thanks.

Sounds great idea Cherrycoop (and welcome to the forum btw.) where do your family live? I might be able to help with finding a local supplier where they could collect the eggs from, so they didn't have to go in the post to them before their journey to you.
