Hi April,
I'm trying to get Tufted American Buff Geese from John Metzer in the US - so have a similar problem! I am also waiting for some Brecon Buff from Chris and Mike Ashton in the UK (Ashton Waterfowl) who have IMO some of the best Brecon Buff if not the best.
The biggest problem here is the top waterfowl breeders don't generally sell hatching eggs. They are difficult to hatch too. Importing Goslings / Geese (US-UK) is very expensive and time consuming as well as an incredible amount of paperwork and exporting I believe means you have to have your premises registered and checked by a vet with the right paperwork etc so nobody wants the cost or hassle.
There is a way of getting eggs from US to UK without having to go through the incredible amount of import paperwork / vets costs. You can import up to 2KG of Goose eggs for consumption - either by hand or by post - maybe you can do the same the other way UK to US?
Of course they will be the tastiest goose eggs ever
They need to be kept warm in the aircraft hold if posted - there are 72 hr heat packs available on ebay.
You may want to investigate your import rules and if I can be of assistance to you in the shipping, please let me know.
To find a breeder who will sell hatching eggs, you may have to contact them directly and keep your fingers crossed, or, failing this, look on ebay - they do sometimes come up.
If they hatch you will be lucky, it's a big old risk of getting nothing but if we didn't try...
Oh and if you do come to the UK - please bring me 2Kg of Tufted Buff
Tim
