As you can see from my previous posts I have nursed previously one of my chickens with vent gleet and has now relapsed again. She is in isolation and has been for nearly a week now. Treating her with Epsom Salts, cider vinegar, yogurt [inserted into vent with a syringe] but she was constantly straining trying to poo I think, so I adminstered some vegetable oil and this morning when I checked her found like giblets in her bed. She has been a lot livelier today and is eating a little better but even though the vent gleet and her vent was a lot cleaner this morning, it is still not right. What was this giblet/liver bits she parted with?
In the past as well she has prolapsed again successfully treated this and is not laying. I found her yesterday looking into a corner with her head in her neck and thought if she does not improve I will take her to the vet to have her put to sleep as I thought if she is suffering I couldn't let her but as I said earlier she is a lot better today. What else can I do to help her? :-)08

She may have passed a lash, ie part of her insides has come away from the oviduct. This isn't as alarming as it sounds, but is not unlikely if she has a history of prolapse. This thread may give you more information as it has some interesting links (not for the fainthearted...) http://poultrykeeperforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5954&p=33873&hilit=lash#p33873
Let us know if you think what you found was anything like the pics and descriptions.

PS Is this Pecker or Margaret? I know you were concerned about both of them, and I've been wondering how they were getting on.

Thanks Marigold, this is Pecker bless her!! I will have a look at the link and keep in touch. Margaret if fine thanks, well for now fingers crossed.x

I just came across this http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/643985/suprelorin-implant-virbac-stops-hens-with-egg-peritonitis-laying-anymore
Which you may find interesting, though the treatment isn't licensed for poultry and not available in the UK. I gather. Still, good to know something may be available more generally perhaps in the future, if you have a long enough purse!

I put Margaret in with Pecker last night for company as those two really get on and knew she would'nt peck at her. Margaret screaming to go back with the others this morning so I have checked Pecker she is a lot better, sprayed some anti peck spray on her bottom which apparently the hens don't like the taste of and put her back with the others. I am monitoring the situation! O the joys, never thought keeping hens would be so time consuming!! Will keep you posted and thanks for your help. x
