URGENT!!!!

Please help. Getting my week old runner ducklings out of their brooder to clean them and my dog in a flash grabbed one!!!!!
She immediately dropped it and although there are no outward signs of injury she is breathing heavy and although can walk is reluctant to.
I don't want to take her to the vet yet as he has no experience of poultry and would be quick to put her to sleep.
Do you think she may be in shock?
Any ideas of what I can do?
I have put them back in the brooder and trying to keep them quiet.

Hi Duggat. Problem is a dog crushes them internally at the points where the teeth made contact. There may be internal damage but shock will be a factor as well. Remarkable how fast they can mend, so all you can do is keep her warm (amongst the others for her security) and wait.
