Hi all, I'm trying to post a pic and it keeps saying that my file is too big and it has to be under a certain number (512kb) but all my pics are ranging from 600 to 700? How come?? :?: :?: Do I have to cut them down somehow?? Thanks Natalie x

Hi Natalie,

Yes, unfortunately if the pics are that big, they would be huge on the screen and slow everything down when loading the page which is why there is a size limit on it.

There are usually options in most photo editing software to reduce the size. Fookes Easy Thumbnails is free Windows software that makes it easy for you to prepare photos for posting on the Web by resizing, compressing, and rotating them automatically for you... there's no advertising either which makes a refreshing change!

The really good thing about this software is that it can resize a batch of photos which makes it quick...

PS Have moved this post to General Chatter.

You can also use places like Flickr to host your own pics, or Imageshack etc. Then simply pick a small enough size to link to and take URL and paste it between the tags.

IIRC Imageshack have a sizing drop down list when uploading a pic There is a 'forum' sized one that would be fine.

You should also be able to resize your pics on your computer somewhere surely. There has to be a basic editor of some description in your gallery section.
