Hi all,

one of my oldest quail ,a little chinese quail I call gammy leg ( she has always had a limp ) aged about 3years has a very overgrown beak and today I noticed that the top beak is going to one side of the bottom beak.

Feeding does not seem to be a problem but I need to do something before it becomes one

Can I trim this and if so how, or is this a vets job?. the girls always have access to cuttlefish so I`m not sure what more I could do.

Any help gratefully accepted.

kind regards Heather

I use nail clippers for my chickens etc & also have nail clippers for my dogs. However, the 1st ever time that a pet of mine needed doing I took it to the vets to be shown as I wasnt confident enough to do it. Have you someone nearby who can show you?

Hi,
thanks for your help, I have now trimmed the beak a little with nail clippers, she did`nt seem to mind so hopefully that will help.
I don`t know why she is`nt using the cuttlefish as all the others do.

Heather
