Hi

I was just wondering if someone could list everything a chicken is NOT supposed to have to eat. For example; I was told brown bread was ok but then reading a post on here it said bread was a definite no-no where chickens were concerned.
It might be helpful to other newbies also...

I currently give mine layer pellets and fresh food consisting of; Tomatoes, Apples, Blueberries, Strawberries, Melon, Lettuce, Broccolli, Peas, Pasta, Potato and Rice. It is always fresh and never left overs. I also give them several handfuls of mixed corn early evening.
They seem to prefer fruit to green veg! Typically!

Many thanks
Amy

Hi, as long as they have ad-lib pellets and a handful of corn in the evenings then you should limit the number of "treats" they have- everything you mentioned ( including bread brown or white) is ok to give in small amounts as treats- too many treats and they don't eat the pellets and can become fat, unhealthy birds that don't lay much and give themselves health problems, so i would limit the treats but remember to vary them ( as you are doing :) ) your birds will be fitter and lay better for it :)
regards, David :)

Thanks David! I think maybe I've been over doing it on treats! My husband says they eat better than he does. Will go down to giving them every other day!! :D
