Tomatoes

My chickens absolutely love tomatoes, but I now have a glut of unripened green ones and I'm not sure if they should have green ones. Does anyone know?

Don't know but I wouldn't risk it Anni. Seem to remember you can ripen tomatoes by putting them in a paper bag with a banana? I know that works for Kiwi Fruit because we have just done it, although an apple or a banana is supposed to work for them according to an article on the internet. Worth an experiment I think?

I ripened all my green tomatoes (including the last really tiny cherry toms) by leaving them on a south-facing windowsill - my chickens love them too!

Ripe banana (it has to be ripe) in a box with tomatoes, cover the box and they ripen up a treat.
