I had just been dipping my chicken's leg in oil :? ...not because I was hungry , but on the good advice of Davidd to combat scaly leg, and I noticed she has a grey blob on her eyelid and one a bit closer to to comb. I touched it and it didn't move or come off. I was a 1-2mm big and I wondered if it might be ticks (though admittedly its smaller than any tick I've ever seen).

How on earth if it is ticks do I treat it on her eyelid, or should I wait for it to drop off?

Sorry again for taking over the forum

It does sound like it might be a tick but they are usually brownish in colour to start before they start filling themselves with blood. Then they start turning grey. However, if they are ticks and bedded in and have had a bit of a feed them may have gone grey already.

Smother in Vaseline, this suffocates them. Once dead they are easily removed (anti clockwise iirc otherwise the head can be left in, double check it is anti clockwise before doing so though).

To remove ticks from my dogs I use an O'tom tick twister.
They are available from many vets & pet shops (or google o'tom, they have a good website with video instructions).
They do seem expensive but they are fantastic at removing the entire tick including the head, without causing the tick to regurgitate fluids back into the host, which can happen when smothering them, this can then result in the spread of disease (although I'm not sure if any disease carried by ticks would be a risk to poultry).
