Thought I would share our great news.

The Wyandottes have been moved into their new enclosure, subdivided to give 8 of them 150 square metres and with our biggest coop. They all absolutely love it! No squabbling at all, even when locked in the tiny run on Chasse days. First day Bumble got onto the perch for the first time since she was attacked, which we put down to more landing and takeoff space and bigger vents so more light. Today, a week on, she laid her first egg since!!! Went quietly into the nest box and came out again with no fuss at all. It was worth every bit of the struggle and it gives us the greatest pleasure to see she is at last so happy again!

That's great news, Chris. Lucky Bumble, I'm glad she managed to get through all her troubles.
It's also nice to hear so much good news from you, after all the problems you had in your old setup, before you moved.
How's Bottom nowadays? Still with us?

Yes he is Marigold. I think after his illness he has been suffering from low level carbon monoxide poisoning. I have sealed the wood burner and he is showing dramatic improvement in just three days. Still weighs nothing, but moving around a lot and yesterday was eating for France!

Just moved the remaining TNN cockerels out of their shed, only to discover they are agoraphobic -had to shoo them out of the coop!

That really is good news Chris. It's easy to miss low level carbon monoxide poisoning - some friends of ours had a Super Ser calor gas heater as the only heat source in their sitting room. We used to assume that we had a slight hangover next day until someone suggested it might be carbon monoxide poisoning. After that they always kept a window open. It won't have done you a lot of good either!!

Well Bumble laid another fuss-free egg today, unlike some of her sisters that make a real racket -all our noisy birds are Wyandottes.

Funny you should mention the effect on me Margaid. Can't push the wheel barrow up the hill very far without running out of breath. Classic CO poisoning symptoms.

And I'll share this with you. Spent half an hour asleep in the sun today. 18 degrees and in a 'T' shirt !!!
