Hi
Has anybody else had this problem, one of our quail has come into lay, but her egg shells are very thin and at times almost transparent like membranes. They're also not the usual colour, mostly white or grey. She is a white coturnix bird herself and came into lay later than the other birds she was hatched with. They are all fed the same food including grit with oyster shell in, and none of the others have any problems. Last week there was some blood on one of the eggs.

Any ideas please anyone? :(

She might just be getting back into lay.

You could try mixing some limestone flour into their pellets, with a little bit of cod liver oil added to help it stick to the pellets, and with absorption of calcium :D

i bought a liquid to put in the drinking water dont know if it works as she stoped laying for winter now

Thank you for the replies. The last two days her eggs have been a bit better so maybe it's just because she's just started, but shall try your suggestions.
