I just wanted to share our arrivals and to say thanks for all the help on the forum and all my questions.

We planned to get the girls today, however our plans were scuppered by local lockdowns here in Wales. We had to go Thursday evening last minute before a local lockdown took effect were the farm was located.

We arrived with an empty tank of diesel and had to exit the area with a few minutes to spare, with two tired children and a hungry 4 month old screaming as we left. Life’s an adventure they say.

The run wasn’t quite finished. It had half a roof and no door but we made it work. There is still a little more to finish off patio slabs on the base, a bit of roof trim and high up mesh to finish off. But the girls seems to be settling.

We got a Bluebell, two Light Sussex and a Columbian Black Tail. They seem happy enough although the bluebell seems to be mother hen!

Lovely! Well done to beat the lockdown! They look nice girls and will soon settle in to their beautiful accommodation. Your account of the trip to get them, and the threat of running out of fuel with a carful of chickens and children, will no doubt go down in family history. It’s so good to see pics of children with the chickens, you are spreading the chicken-keeping virus to the next generation.
Colombian Blacktails are super little birds, so neat and perky with their jaunty little tails, and the ones I’ve had were very productive of lovely eggs. Did the seller say how old they are? I hope they’ll be in lay by the end of October if they are 22-24 weeks by then.

Yeah we’re hoping they start laying before the year is out. They are 19 weeks old. Our two girls absolutely love them with constant calls of can we go and see the chickens.

They happily took themselves off to bed around 7:30 is out and pop in and out of the coop so seem to know the ropes already.

Well done on getting them before lockdown, they look a nice bunch, and the girls are certainly "at home" with them.
You will know when they are getting near laying age as the combs will get bigger and red.
At least they know what the coop is for and take themselves in and out ok.
