Today,a friend came round and is erecting permanent fences in my garden to section it off properly,I was using orange plastic type netting, but my dogs keep trashing it.Well, while he was busy working,I popped to my local garage, when I got back,I could see a flock of chooks,on the pavement going for a casual stroll on the pavement up my road.Only, they were my chooks.....they'd slipped through the gate from my garden when it was open :o aaargh!!! my babies were leaving home.
I leapt out of my car, called to the chooks and they stopped and looked at me,I called to them again, using the special call I use for corn or treats, they all ran back to me,and followed me back through my gate.Which I then made sure was frimly shut  ,and gave them another scoop of the promised corn.

At tea time,I went to get my pekins from a run on my front lawn, they come back into my house.Well,I picked up the girls, and left the run open to see what the cockerel would do,I walked up my garden path, turned and called him.He popped out the run,and walked sedately up my front garden path and into my hall.He followed me into the lounge.
It is really cute to see,he is actually only following his wives, but,to someone who doesn't appreciate animal behaviour,it does look really awesome.
I think all my birds go to the top of the class for cuteness and cleverness :D .

When mine get out of their pens it's "honey grab the net, we got loose chickens!!" LOL It is nice though to have some tame birds that will come when called.

Oh that is cute. I love it that they go in your house, mine do too although my other half isnt' keen. My Pekin rooster follows one of his wives everywhere, even into the hen house when she's laying - sits and sings to her, it's lovely. He's got two more junior wives though and he needs to keep them under control better, they keep wandering off next door and he doesn't stop them. I have to go and round them up and bring them back to him.

Our kitchen window overlooks the garden, and whenever I open it one of my hens (Scarlet) flies up onto the window sill and comes into the kitchen! My husband agrees with me that it is very cute, although most visitors to the house think I am mad. :P
