Thermometer/Hydrometer

For the incubator I use a digital that is intended for reptile habitats, they are supposed to be accurate +/- 1% on humidity and roughly the same for temp.

I made my own a few years back - if you get two accurate incubator thermometers (they must read the same temperature) and wire them to the side of a very small piece of wood - then attach a small plastic container beneath one - an old film canister was perfect but they are harder to find now, cut a small clearance hole in the lid. Take a piece of wick that when stretched fits over the bulb of the thermometer and place it in the tub, passing through the hole in the lid and onto the thermometer bulb. Add water and hey presto - Wet bulb temperature and Dry bulb temperature. You use a look up table to get the % humidity.

Alternatively, I would go with the electronic version as suggested but check the accuracy quoted before buying.

My incubator is so small i couldn't rig up a wet bulb so i got this,

That looks great Phil. Nice and compact, I'm tempted to get one myself.

The accuracy of the Hygrometer is good - 3% but I would also take a proper temperature reading using an incubation thermometer because 1 degree C accuracy is not good enough for the temperature.

I all so have a brinsea glass thermometer for the temp Tim,
I'll be upgrading to a RCOM 20/50 soon :D

Good Choice of incubator - I love mine and get some excellent results. It's still worth checking the factor set temp / humidity though as they (incubators) can sometimes be out.

How about this Thermometer/Hydrometer http://www.sourcingmap.com/multifunction-thermometer-hygrometer-digital-table-wall-alarm-clock-p-12389.html

It doesn't state the accuracy from what I can see, it would be worth checking with them first.

The thing to be careful of is that most of these have a temperature accuracy of +/- 1 degree which isn't good enough - yet the display resolution is 0.1 degees which makes you think it is very accurate.

The humidity is usually more accurate on them and not quite as critical - but still worth knowing what accuracy your readings is..

Hope this helps. Tim.
