Did anyone see this on BBC2 last night? I made a point of watching. Our poultry are truly fascinating. The programme has verified what I have learnt over the years about chicken behaviour and I learnt some interesting facts too. Would love to see more of this kind of thing. :D

Hi,

Yes wasn't it informative and entertaining- My son and I have no idea where that mouse disappeared to!!!
we stopped the disc and replayed it! Watched our girls around their food bowl yesterday through fresh eyes and felt so sorry for the lowest in the pecking order- sneekily gave them a few treats away from the others. Thought "Jayne" was a very good ambassador for hens welfare.

What a refreshing programme.......

I enjoyed it too - had spoken to Jane years ago when I was looking for ex-bats and she was so helpful . Yes, I wish there were more programmes on chickens - especially as there are so many chicken keepers now. I would imagine the programme also inspired others to keep some .

Saw the 1st one about cows which was very interesting too. Enjoyed this one! Will be watching the one about pigs this week. I like watching Jimmy Doherty programmes :D

This programme was on when I was away on hols but reading your posts I caught up with it on the computer (on the watch again facility) What a lovely programme. Loved it - where did that mouse go!!! I've heard that chooks can swallow a large piece of food but that big!!! Very interesting to see their reactions to the hawk & also the stuffed fox, they're not so stupid then :D

Love Jimmy Docherty's programmes though, great camera friendly manner.
