As someone said on the forum very recently, it's well worth finding the right vet for the right pet...
Not being a member of any aquarium related forums, can anyone recommend a vet in east Kent who knows about tropical fish? I've a moonlight gourami who's developed quite a large growth (nearly the size of a pea) & I'm very worried about her; her mate & our angelfish keep having a go at it.

I'm torn between wanting her to get better & not wanting to put her through the stress of being netted out & transported to a vet, but I can't see her getting better on her own...

Nature has taken its course & my magnificent Moonlight Gourami has gone to the great river in the sky (presumably under the "rainbow bridge" rather than over it). Her 'husband' & I are bereft. You can get very attached to any family member who's part of your life for 5 years or more...

Oh dear, thats sad, Icemaiden. You're right, grief is not species specific. Is the husband OK? (Hers I mean, - mainly, anyway.)
Sorry none of us know about fish. Is it as difficult introducing a new fish as a new hen?

He's pretending to eat, but just going through the motions. Male gouramis are a little like cockerels- if you have more males than females, you get punch-ups, so I won't be able to get another pair while the adult male is still with me. I could get a couple of young females I suppose, but I haven't got the heart at the moment. Thanks for asking though, Marigold.
