After all my moaning that hens are never broody when you need one- my lovely girls have proved to be life savers :D
I Bought some silkie eggs on Friday and collected some of my poland eggs ready for fertility testing. Turned the incubator on on Fri ready to put the eggs in on Sat and it wouldn't heat up - thought I'd have to make a pretty expensive omelette.
However, three of my pekin girls have decided to go broody in the past few days, so tonight I put 7 eggs under each - they've completely saved the day :) The incubator is being returned for fixing at and least the eggs have a chance now!

Lots of chicks for both of us soon then :D The eggs in my other incubator are meant to be hatching tomorrow too.
I'm sure broodiness is contagious, another one of my pekins was thinking about sitting too. Will go up to the farm later to see if any of the other 3 have abandoned their eggs- Hopefully at least one will be okay- she's done it all before and was a very good mum (If incredibly vicious to any chickens or people who came too close!)

Well I have two girls still sitting.
The other one I had put on eggs in the nestbox and was going to bring a hutch over for her today.
My other half's mum had "collected" the silkie eggs under her :( Never mind, two out of three isn't bad!
