Hi folks!

It turned out that Lucie was,as I suspected, a cock. So she/he (gosh will she ever have gender issues!!) has gone back to the farm and got swapped for 2 little black chicks...I thought introducing 2 would be better than 1. Well there was a bit of pecking at first and I was really unhappy but had to go to work so parents came round and let out the bigger 2 for a scrat in the garden. Then the rain started and they went back to the hen house, along with the new ones. Later they wouldn't even come out for some pasta! I peeked into the hen house, no sign of the chicks!!! I looked again, and one of the bigger ones was standing up to see what I was up to and there, behind the older girls, were the 2 black chicks, all tucked in and warm! I hope this means harmony has returned to the hen house???

Awww! sounds promising! Do you know the sex of the new chicks yet? :D

The chicks look pretty female at this stage but hey, what do I know!

One of the bigger ones pecked a chick this morning as she was trying to feed. The chick waited. The bigger one bent over to feed, so the chick pecked her bum then dashed off! So funny.

The new ones are very black with lovely black eyes.......all are from a friend of a friend who has a small holding so are mixed breed! Very pretty.
 
Sounds like they will be ok :lol: Would love to see piccies!
