Hi,
As we are having a lovely few days (long may it last) I thot I had best as ask my newbies have a significant amount of pink showing!! I have cable tied some tarp to the roof of their run but should I be making an attempt with some factor 40?

Cheeri, yes I am indeed blushing asking this question

PS: I heard last night that the farm where my hens were taken from has gone belly up and the farmer is being prosecuted ( I have been asked to take photo diary of birds.)mmmmm makes you wonder what kind of life they have had doesn't it as mine are all still REALLY nervous .....

Won't do any harm on the comb -good idea if they haven't been in sun before. We put some on our cockerels earlier in the year. Lots of shade essential at the moment and need to allow for sun moving round.

Just make sure they have access to shade at all times. They will usually choose this over sun even when it's not as hot as it is today. Take a good look at your run as the day goes by and the sun moves round, to be sure they can always get out of the sun and keep cool when they want. It's usually possible to make shade by fixing a tarp to the run mesh, and this will also give protection from the wind and driving rain.
