So yesterday was a still, lazy Summers day. This years breeding cock is strolling about with his harem. In the growers pen a young Exchequer Leghorn cockerel is competing with him in the crowing stakes. His hatch mates - some sisters, some of my own Pullets and a lone Russian Orloff Pullet are looking at him quizzically. Sheep and lambs cudding, birds singing and gannets diving like arrows in to the sea. Everything is in balance.
Oh, forgot to mention. A large gin and tonic and some Wenslydale and crackers for lunch! Bliss.

Sounds like an excellent day, Hen-Gen. Our Summer, after the heatwave in June, has turned out quite wet and windy, although temps are OK- averaging 18-20C.

Sounds like heaven to me, Hen-Gen! What kind of gin & which tonic?

Reel Ocean Sent Gin and Fever Tree Tonic. My favourites and the gin kept in the freezer and tonic in the fridge. No ice cubes anywhere near a G and T. A slice of cucumber is ideal but I’d run out.
A couple of years ago I went to a swanky place in Lerwick and ordered one of these and it came garnished with a wedge of grapefruit. I was close to committing murder!

The garnish has git to depend on the gin, hasn't it?

I like Adnams Copper House gin with Fevertree Mediterranean tonic. A single segment of mandarin goes perfectly, but I wouldn't put it in my Salhouse gin...

I've not heard of Reel Ocean Sent before. I'll have to look it up...
