Yesterday while at a local garden centre a saw some chickens and fell in love with a light sussex and a marans. Bought them home and they seemed fine, although the marans was definately alot quieter than the sussex. This morning they seemed ok, however this evening, the marans didn't seem lively at all and was at the back of the run facing the wall. I checked water food etc, gave her a cuddle and added some greens. I went back about 7pm and she was dead! I know I should not of bought on a whim from a garden centre, my major dilemna is...when I go back tomorrow to tell them, do I accept a replacement ( which could be ill) or do I get my money back. The sussex is now on her own, which I do not like to see, but I do not want to damage the other girls I have. The notice said they were 10 weeks old on the 10th March making them approx 17 weeks, although I thought they seemed abit younger than that. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
ps. In death, she seems a little bit dandruffy, other than that she looks great.

----- If the first has died of an infection then the chances are they all have it so I think it is important to take the survivor back rather than risk infecting your own birds,I would not replace from there. Ros

Yes, I would agree with Ros. Better to find a reputable breeder who has the breed you want. If not, further down the line you could be in for some expensive vets bills.

Good Luck and let us know how you get on :-)05
