I suspect that this is probably a very silly question but, how do you start encouraging ducks to approach so that you can pick them up, i appreciate that ive only had my solitary duck for a week but he does tend to run away and i do have difficulty in putting him away at night, im also concerned that if the need arise (injury etc) that i will be able to pick him up.

Thanks in advance

From my experience ducks wont approch unless you have food for them. I have one imprinted duck that does approch when i havent got food and she'll get on my lap and cuddle in etc but its all on her terms. To catch her i still have to chase her around. Going in at night encourage with food, i would buy more ducks to go with him as ducks are not solitary animals. You should put the duck in at same time every night, same routine, and they sort of start to get the hang of it!! Good luck!

my ducks will do anything for dryed meal worms they have started to peck on the back door if i dont see them for a while
