Ok, so just bought poultry netting with 'hot gate' for the garden. Bought it so I could put the ark onto a fixed run for the winter and give the girls enough room to run on the grass when I'm not there and when I introduce them to the new pair next week, BUT
How on earth do you open the hot gate without getting a shock!
I have the system set up on mains, with the net in a ring and the two net clips connected as instructed on the gate top. This means that to open the gate, I have to remove the crocodile clip, then undo the clips that hold the two ends of the net together, meaning The clip is flapping about on the grass (got a shock though the grass as its wet).
I need to lock the garage, so opening it to turn off the fence every time I go in is going to be a pain. How on earth do you leave the fence on or make it safe to use without shooting for the sky :D (ok, had a couple of glasses of wine, but sober now after that shock!)

Is yours set up like this?.

oh - yes and no? :?
I have it set up like that, but the video only seems to show one lead with metal clip on the "fixed" side of the gate - I have a clip and lead on both sides. does this mean i dont need to connect them together? (presume I just wind the other lead into the fence).

You ought to have a red clip and a green clip, the red clip goes onto your fence and the green clip goes onto the metal earth rod that should be driven into the ground.

I didnt realise the net would be electrified if you only put power to one end of it - thought it had to be in a ring.
Think I get it now - thanks for replying :)

Tak still not eating, but feathering up well. Tik is ok and put on weight. Both still on high protein diets :)
I've put both the ark and new house within the netting and let both sets out seperately so they all get some exercise. Strangely, its Tak and Lily that seem to have taken a dislike to each other and been clashing at the ark mesh. Tik ignores everyone and poor Crumpet just hides.

Yeah it is an open circuit which is completed when an animal (hopefully the fox) touches the fence. It is worth buying one of the testers so that you can make sure the fence is working properly each week without having to zap yourself to do it. Good luck with it.
