Hi All!
Please could you help me again!!! One of my girlies has laid a couple of eggs that are not ovals! They are flat on one side!! There is nothing else unusual about the eggs.... normal colour, nice hard shells but just a strange shape!! As long as the girls are OK there is no problem, but please could someone advise?

As always, thanks for your help.....

PS Doris and Elsie love you all!

Don't worry! Probably a bit of a hiccup in the egg laying process, wouldn't be surprised if another egg is on the way mind ;)

You've said it yourself - as long as the birds are OK, there's no problem.

This can happen when they are first starting to lay, either as pullets or 1st year hens. The system is not fully organized and two eggs get into the egg laying tract together, with the result they are squashed against each other. When I was a child we called them "Clock Eggs" as they often look like a clock face with the divisions for hours round the face :D

That's a new one on me CC. Means you could put them on our wonky kitchen worktops and they wouldn't roll off! My first thought was two eggs in the duct at the same time, as I couldn't figure out ant other way they could be produced. Darkbrowneggs confirms my guess.

You are exactly right, Chrismahon. I lined 'em up ready to make scrambled eggs and none rolled about!! Easy cooking!!
