I think I'm an over anxious mother but to chickens - the real child is no problem and there's always doctors if I need it for him. My latest worry is that one of my hens has laid odd eggs the last two times. She's only started to lay recently, but her eggs had been normal and perhaps 2/3 a week for a month. On Wed she laid a big, slightly tubular one with a soft shell and the end seemed to have extra thickness of shell. Yesterday nothing, today another slightly tubular egg, hard shell this time but a bit of a ridged end and it was twice the size of normal. She seems fine in all other respects, and doesn't seem bothered by this either. I'm just a bit worried that there's something wrong, or that she'll get one stuck - am I just paranoid ? She free ranges and I've put out some oyster shell (which she's ignored).
