Sticky black faces

All my birds look like they have a horrendous respiratory infection with faces,combs,beaks and wattles covered with thick black sticky muck. The cause?????-------gorgeing on windfalls causing apple juiced faces which then gets dirt stuck on them when they start digging for worms etc. !What a mess .Ros

Sorry about the picture non quality ! I just thought -the thick goo I assumed was mud etc stuck on , I now think its just the dry juice and pulp having oxidised black (??)
