omgggggggg all night i have been searching for pekin bantams for sale i am now getting addicted to them so would someone stop me before its to late   and i have found someone not very far from me that breeds and sells them ;) i could be so so tempted to stop getting big birds and have just little bantams only although those who have my eggs daily maybe not be to pleased

Silly little things with their backsides higher than their heads. Do you really want anything other than your rooves sloping ? Few or no very small eggs which means you would need 6 at a time for every meal. Spend so much time broody that you won't see them anyway. Constantly under your feet as they can't bear to be alone so a danger for children and the elderly.

Please tick: Helpful. Tendency to helpful, Not helpful at all. If not, take a sleeping pill.

but they are so cute , i dont mind thier eggs anyway mum uses them for yorkshires and baking she reckons they are better :)

Silly no, big personality and attitude yes.
Very small eggs no, they are small but two equal a normal egg and true they don't lay through the winter but if eggs are the primary reason for keeping chickens get hybrids.
Broody??? ATP's (all terrain Pekins) the ones with long legs and necks like giraffes they seem to be the ones always broody and the non standard colours.
Exhibition Pekins occasionally go broody, this year I've had one black, two lavender cuckoo, one columbian and none in white, blue and cuckoo, soo

So a good choice Karminsky, beautiful birds in a range of colours, not an easy breed to keep in good fettle for shows but so worth the effort :-)17

And just to tempt you a bit more a little blue girl.

Oh dear, you've tempted me now! Isn't she GORGEOUS!
-but not much help for Karminski's addiction!

By the way, small eggs are more nutritious than big ones, weight for weight, because they have a larger proportion of yolk to white. Try quail.....

Well if you want eggs and small hens try English Leghorn Bantams. Very flighty and plain looking (look like small cream legbars) but lay over 250 eggs a year at about 50 grammes or just over. We don't sell them as they are really tasty and ALL MINE! I usually have 3 poached on French bread toast for breakfast. Don't like the cold though -their feathering is quite thin so into the greenhouse for Winter. Heat no problem at all.

Quail eggs I luvs em! far superior to chicken eggs nutritionally and only 14 calories per egg :-)08

My Aussies (bants) keep me going in eggs all year round, amazing layers, my older girls are moulting now and still some are firing out eggs, don't understand why they are not more popular

tells us how you really feel Chuck   :-)17 brilliant, i almost lost my cuppa laughing. :-)08

p.s. Tendency to helpful. :-)01

Our Dotte bantams have all been moulting at the same time and we have not had any eggs for ages. Since owning our own birds we cannot stand the sight and taste of standard size eggs from the suprermarket. Longing for the taste of our own eggs again (with some chips!). :-)05 It is getting late in the year now so we may have to wait until after Christmas but you never know. :-)11

Sorry, I am going to "egg" you on the whole way..... Pekins are top tastic little birds, what they lack in size they more than make up for in personality.....
Go loobyminski you know you want to.... say its an early xmas pressie to yourself...... x

 you guys are brillant , but it might all have to hold for now as not had a good day at work got summonded to the office with mum has i work with her and in a way got told get rid of the animals so i can do overtime or really risk losing my job lets say at the mo i am so not happy , it bad enough having everyone telling me to keep my boys as they all love them but i know i am breaking council rules by keeping them { bless thier hearts they never even crowed this morning } i can home them to someone but i cant bear the thought of them not being looked after as well so i might have them p.t.s the kind way via the vet at least then i wont have to stress about them not being looked after i know i am being silly but thats just me .so for a few weeks i am sitting on broken glass as the saying goes as to wether i have a job think i will but you never know i can do the overtime but it means the dogs wont go out as i will never walk them on the common lands in the dark horses aint really a prob as we have electritcy at the yard of course and doing the girls in the pitch black on the allotments ummm i dont know because if worse comes to the worse then they may all have to go .

That is terrible for you :-)03 Don't make any hasty decisions though, just see how it goes. If you have to rehome them there are some good homes around and looking at that little blue girl, I think they are gorgeous and could be tempted. :)

It is nice to know you care so much - it is a pity that all people don't care for their animals the same. :)

Hope it works out for you :-)17

if all goes ok over the next few weeks then i will start looking for some more bantams then but i wont rush into anything yet , my boys went to thier home yesterday and i am already missing them  parting with them is bad enough let alone losing all my girls as well , i am dreading going into work tomorrow and although nothing came of the last time the boss done this i still dont trust him .hasnt stopped me thinking about getting get more banties though :)

Well, it's not really the best time of year to be getting new banties anyway, is it Karminski, with all that nasty winter darkness, cold and wet ahead of us. Nothing to stop us all making our wish lists for the Spring, though, is there? Sounds as if you're a bit stressed and over-extended at the moment, I hope you can cope with all those precious animals to look after. i was interested to read that you'd actually found a home for the boys, what happened about that? Hard to let them go, but probably in a littlre while you'll feel glad they're giving pleasure to someone else in a good home.

i will look at getting some more birds when my job is settled it might not happen tell next year i dont know , but dont worry i can cope with the animals its them that keep me sane  and as for the boys going yes i miss them and i hope the person looks after them ,when i dropped them of yesterday his birds were still locked in the coop with no food or water and that was 10 am if i had not let them out then they would have gone without until today as the guy was away and i dont even know if hes back yet but i got to stop myself ging there and checking even though hes said i can pop in when ever i want .

Hey, sensible words re: holding off, however I can't help but mention as it happened to me a long time ago - you're boss is bullying you, it's against the law. Can I suggest you look for a new, nicer job and boss that won't threaten you with the sack because you have enough love in your heart to have animals?!?!?!
Makes me mad that some companies still treat employees so bloomin badly

wish it was as easy as that we all know jobs are hard to come by , where i work now its brill as its right oposite my house only have to cross the road so no travelling expenses :-)17 its the main reason i wont leave the job i think there will be changes i just dont know when but tomorw morning if i can get the girls out at 6 am then i will do a bit of overtime in the morning as someone is going in early anyway so that will keep the boss happy and my finaces have changed { long story } so i have to do the overtime now wether i like it or not and to make it worse one of my little banties went downhill sunday so i was going to take her to the vet today but she died before i got her there so yes i am on the look out for at least 2 maybe 3 as i only have 2 left and dont want to suddenly end up with 1 on its own crazy aint it . i've got someone to call tomorw whos quite local to me who has different banties will call him and see how much they are to wether i risk getting 2 or 3 , cant beleive she died but even if i had got her to the vet i dont think it would of helped :( :(
