I am happy to report that after much encouragement from the good people on this forum and a few friends and all of my family my flock has now expanded to 15 hybrids 2 bantams and 6 quails, am running hot kettles to the runs. i have been feeding them with warm mash and spaghetti (cooked on a camping stove) and poultry spice, the temprature looks to be dropping to about -8 c where i live tonight how are others faring in this stupid weather?

Hi Scuffer
Hens hate this weather, most evenings when I am shutting the girls up it is about -5, went down to -11 the other night. Taking buckets of water down in wheelbarrows as all the waterbutts are frozen. Each of the hen houses are on logs so have put straw under each of them, where the girls mainly sit under all day. Weather forcast has temperature at -10 tonight urghhhhhhhhhh!! Roll on Spring

Lots of people seem to be suffering at the moment. We've escaped all the snow and have had daytime temperatures of about +1 and it's been about -3 at night so I am feeling quite lucky at the moment. Hopefully it will improve for the weekend. Our forecast is +4 for Saturday so fingers crossed for everyone!
