Hi all.

There is a constant problem of people joining the forum and posting links to other websites to gain website ranking in the search engines.

Basically, the more links a website has, the higher the seach engines position them... because links are seen as a popularity vote.

So we get 'spam bots' - automated computers that follow a process to post some rubbish about Rolex Watches or whatever but we've managed to stop them by putting difficult questions on the sign up page - questions that cannot be found in Google by the spambot that only a human can find.

But there's another kind of sneaky spammer coming into our forum :-)05

They are normally people from China or Russia (I look up the IP address before deleting a user). They create an account and sometimes don't post for months - then they will try to put something into the post (usually in poor English or copied from a similar thread on another forum) and then add a link somewhere into the post.

If we linked out to some of these 'dodgey' sites, we would lose our position in the search engines or worse still, get delisted so it's important for the moderators to delete these posts and ban the user.

So if you see a post with a link in it that doesn't come from a user with a reasonable number of posts - or links out to a site that's not poultry related / related to the post, please can you click the 'report post' icon (a triangle with an exclamation mark in it) and just ask us to check it out.

As the forum is growing, it's hard for moderators to read all posts on the forum and we don't always spot these sneaky spammers.

This will make our job easy and keep the forum spam free for us all!

Thank you. I really appreciate your help. :-)17

Tim.
