I noticed my new 24 week old hens sleekly in the nest box I put a upturned pot in just wondering how long to leave it in and when they will need it to lay

Hi roadrk and welcome to the forum. Are they actually laying yet? If so, you will need to remove the pots from the nest boxes first thing in the morning and put them back before they go to bed.

Then just leave the pot in the nest box. They may not have learn to perch yet. Do they go on the perch when the nest boxes are blocked? If they sit on the floor, you could gently lift them onto the perches after dark until they get the idea. Once they get used to perching you can remove the pot.

Yes I will do that tonight have noticed them sleeping on the floor

I'd take the pots out in the day so they can investigate the nest boxes. Once they learn to perch, you won't need them.

Only had to put them on perches two nights and they are all roosting exploring nest box during the day
