now that2 eggs have hatched (there were only 5 and one broke) 21 days was weds, no more eggs have hatched - am worried the hatched chicks now need food and water?

i would they should of hatched by now if all put in together.
they must of eaten though or they would be dead so she may of got off when not looking

yeah, the chicks and mother need water, they can survive for 24 hours without food or water, but then they will need it.
Can leave mum for another day, but she probably wont hatch anything after that

Chicks can survive for 48 hours after hatching. The hen will usually lead them to food when the time is right as she will be hungry herself. Same applies to water. I try to put the feed & water quite close for the first couple of days till the chicks get stronger.

You could try popping jam jar lids of crumb and water close to her...she will then encourage the chicks to eat, once she starts clucking this will trigger her nurturing instinct if she needs a little help! But yes don't worry I don't bother the broody for a couple of days, however if she is a inexperienced I will keep a closer eye on her.
