I have a rooster who is VERY sexually mature, will my not so sexually mature hens be ok in with him, he keeps mounting them and they dont like it,,,should i separate them?????

Hi, yes, i would keep him separate him until the hens are laying and able to cope with his demands
If they are very young they will not "submit" to him and he could damage them- they will settle down on their own- you can put him back when they are a bit more mature.
regards, David :)

I agree, young cockerels can be very enthusiastic! Caught one of my young lads running around after the girls fit to give himself a heart attack!

David, how young is a problem. I'll be getting 2 more hens soon, likely about 15 weeks old. I'll keep them separate for 2 weeks but should I keep them away from my rooster for longer ?

hi, if possible try to keep them away until they are laying- so, probably 4-8 weeks- then put in in with as many as possible- that way he can share his attentions around - he will, unfortunately favour one or two girls- these will bare the brunt  but should be fine if mature and laying- good luck, it's only nature :D :D :D
regards, David :)
