Hi
I have 5 chicks ,1 dominique 2 aracauna x warrens, 1wyandotte and 1 unknown
they are 8 weeks old and I was wondering how can I sex them and if not at this time when will there sex become apparent ?
What should I be looking for as a clue?

It's a bit easier when they are all the same breed but it's not easy even then. Combs usually grow quicker on the males but again, with a mixture, it's hard to compare. The feathers on the neck and in front of the tails are more pointed on males than on the females. All this from about 12 weeks. Legs on males are usually thicker and sometimes longer but this is difficult to compare with mixed breeds.
I suggest you take some photos of each one, showing in close up, the neck and back feathers and the combs and post them on here. Usually there is someone who is experienced with a particular breed who can come up with an answer but prepare for conflicting views !

Can you post a few pictures?

With the wyandotte, if it is a female, there should be NO comb growth at all. Her patten should be nearly complete, if it is a boy, you're going to find more solid red in the shoulders, a lot less lacing.

The Warren crosses, if they have single combs that are red already, and developing, as well as wattles, you have boys. That's normally the first sign with Red Sexlinks as we call them him in the US. If they have rose combs, they should still be flatish right now if they are girls.

Sorry, never had any doms. BUT i'd almost think the same on the sexing. But I have heard that sometimes with Doms and BR, there is a line of color down the legs on one of the sexes, can't remember which though...

Sorry, I guess I should have asked if it was a golden, columbian, silver on the wyandotte...

Thanks for all the helpfull replies I shall check them all out in the morning
many thanks Hawkeye185.
