Hi, just wondered how I can sex them? I'm new to ducks so I haven't got a clue what to look for? Can you just tell visually or do they have to be sexed properly? I have read that they make different noises? Well I have 3 campbells a dark,a white and a kharki and the dark make a squeaky noise? (like a dogs toy)? What do I look for? Thanks Natalie x

Hello, how old are they? they can be vent sexed at day old- but you need to know what you are doing so not advisable to a novice. Once they feather up and get thier voices then you can tell- the ducks will quack - while the drakes have a much lower, sort of sore throat, quack  The drakes will also have two little curly feathers on their tails- but don't get these until fully grown. kharki campbell drakes will have a dark green head while a kharki duck will have a brown head. Have you any pictures of them?
regards, David :)

Hi Natalie only the ducks (females) quack and drakes just make a rasping noise & tend to keep their baby noise longer (so possibly your squeaky dark one) than the ducks who's voice "breaks" to give a quick deep grunt of a quack when relaxed and just talking to each other or a definite deep quack quack if alarmed. At the earliest 4 weeks but definitely by 6-8 weeks.

Thanks guys, They still haven't got there feathers yet. They're 2 and 1/2 weeks old at the moment. I dd give them a small bowl to bath in yesterday cos of th heat and omg they love it, that and the attention of towel drying after lol. I will try and get some pics on later.
