sexing chicks

Wait and see and hope for lots of girls  :D
Some breeds easier than others wing method on 1 day old chicks(some breeds),more expirienced can do went sexing ;)

I just let them get on with it as no early method seems certain. When they crow they go into the cockerels enclosure. The others remain in the 'not sure' group. Basil stayed in the 'not sure' group with 'her' brother until 26 weeks and 1 day when she 'coughed'. A day earlier than his father. After that his comb and wattles grew, but up to that point he looked and acted no different to the hens.

Just wait and see until comsb start to develope. The Leghorn combs on the male chicks start to sprout within a month and you can safely tell. I can tell the Black Leghorn chicks at hatching as the pullet chicks are jet black. In some breeds, the size of legs are an indication. The wing feather method will work with some breeds but I haven't found it reliable enough to use. I could never get anywhere with vent sexing, even when the eyesight was much better !
