I have some light sussex silkie cross broodies .
They have been mated by a white wyandotte cockerel.
The results give me some light brown and some white chicks.
My question is are the whites males and the coloured ones female

Yes, I am pretty sure buff chicks are female and the males have a white or light down from a sex linked gold/white(silkie) cockerel to a light sussex hen, not 100% sure though :-)07 Pods will know when she pops on!

Welcome to the form btw! :D :-)99

Thankyou for your responce.Would appreciate a confirmation before further action.
Could you please ask the Pods you refer to to comment

Sex linkage only works with a first cross, then it has to be a silver female to a gold male and they have to be pure for their given colour.
So in your cross with the Dotte the chick colour will have no bearing on their sex I'm afraid.
