Sagas of nancy (maybe not for breakfast viewing)

The sagas of Nancy continue!

Nancy is fighting fit thank goodness (or as well as she's been), fully feathered and currently beling wormed as per usual spring routine. The other 2 are both laying and as healthy as ever, but Nancy laid this overnight. Her poo is generally more fizzy than the others and she does do a huge number of ceacal droppings which, with her history doesn't surprise me.
I presumed that after our fight for life in the autumn, she'd decide to live out life in quiet, but no.... She's up for the party and been in the lipstick parlour dabbing her wattles and comb in readiness for egg production. I'm presuming that the below is just her rather sudden shedding of linings ready for action, but was a bit worried by the dab of blood on the top. I had a prod (as you do) but found no evidence of worms, so would like to check nobody thinks she's about to keep me on my toes again with another health scare?

Hi BB. Looks a bit of a mess to me. Sort of runny 'lash', which is shed oviduct lining. Seem to remember reading they can shed it at any time in response to an irritation. We've had a few lashes that just looked like half of an uncooked sausage. After that they may or may not lay again. We had a Cream Legbar (Lucy who shed it 2 and laid to 6 ½) that took a full year off and we had a BlackRock that shed and laid a few weeks afterwards. Not at all worried about the bloody bit -looks like a blood egg yolk.

Fizzy poos seem consistent with excitement, but I have noticed their frequency increases as they come up to worming. After worming they drop right back down to 'occasionally' from 'twice a day'.

So I can't predict what Nancy will do, which I'm sure is no surprise to you at all BB.

Thanks Chris, she certainly likes to keep me on my toes. As for excitement, she's the queen of it and would be running an illegal rave in the coop every night if the 'stern' eye of Tricksy wasn't watching her every twitch
I'll keep an eye on her - as always, ready for the next drama
