Does anyone else on the forum have RIRs?

If my assessment of them is correct, I think they are the dumbest birds I have ever come across! Beautiful, healthy and well grown. They cannot make it up the little ramp to bed perch and start shouting when it starts to get dark. Every other chick I have ever had has taken 2 days at most to discover bed and perching.

My Croads are very bright also Leghorns and CLBs have a brain, Gloria the Barred Plymouth rock is still a very attached girl, and all my Pekins and bantams the same, tame friendly, and sociable.

I hope someone can give me some hope with these little beauties, they really are chicken brains!.

My last last of Rhode island Reds sussed it straight away, apart from 1 who decided sitting on my shoulder was the best roost spot ever. But as she still tries it, i guess she just likes me an awful lot.
Can't say I have found them particularly dumb. Stick with it, they will get there in the end

Thanks for your words of encouragement, BYM, today is day 10 of total dumbness.

Spent about 20 minutes last night on my knees on a mat in the run trying to womanhandle them into their hut. Then from the little b.....s. came chirps and sounds of utter contentment.

Don't you just love them when they do that to you.
Have you tried shining a torch into the coop, a friend who had a similar problem found that worked
