Hi, The removable 'poop' tray that came with my chicken coop has started to disintegrate (it is 2 years old). I've looked over the internet but cannot seem to find them for sale separately , just as part of a hen house setup which I do not need. Do any of you reading this know where I can get one from ? My carpentry skills are not good before someone suggests I make one myself!

Thank you

I think unlikely you will be able to get a replacement Barneyrubble unless the coop is British made and you can order one from the manufacturer. Sounds like a Chinese job to me, if it's disintegrated so quickly. Your only option will be to make one, or get one made. Try an ad in the local Post Office or General Store for someone retired who could help you out. Problem is it needs to be someone like myself who has ply or timber in stock as just a full sheet of exterior ply for the base is about £45. Unless the rest of the coop is in first class condition you may consider putting the money towards buying a new one because the tray will still cost around £50 I expect.

If it is just a simple slider tray on top of the coop base, you could consider using vinyl floor sheet, which you can buy by the metre and cut to size easily with scissors. I line my quail cages with this and it bends up at the sides and slides out easily complete with dirty litter, and can then be more easily cleaned than wood before putting it back in. You can line the tray with newspaper on top of this and then just remove the top sheet most days and put it on the compost heap. If you can find a local supplier, someone who fits kitchen floors, you can avoid the postage costs and do the job for around £10 for a metre i would think. M!aybe even an offcut, since the pattern and colour doesn't matter!
