Redning combs?

A sign of coming into lay Nitram. Will be combined with less frequent but much larger poos. Then it's only a matter of days. Sometimes they will squat if you pass you hand over them -they think you are a cockerel.

In both cockrels and pullets, reddening comb is a sign of maturity. Feed her a balanced ration and you'll get more eggs.

We got our first egg!!!!! Dark brown, medium size, I have heard the first eggs are small and get larger after a while. The red sex-links are supposed to lay large to extra large eggs. How long will it take for her to be laying her normal size eggs?

Congratulations Nitram. Our TNN chicks have taken a full year to get to the size of eggs they were hatched from, but that is exceptional I think. I would expect the egg size to be settled in a few months, but we have had hybrids that laid the finished size of egg within a few weeks. The birds are after all still growing and some of their energy is going there.
