Hi All

My name is William Clayton Grace and I live in the U.S. My Redcap chicks are from Ideal Poultry. I will be breeding my Redcaps to the Standard and at some point in the future I would like to enter them into the poultry shows. If it is ok I plan to post pictures of my chicks as the grow and I would be very thankful for any advice in the future on which ones I should keep for the breeding pens.

Here are a few pictures of my Redcap chicks.

Am no expert when it comes to showing/breeding (our chickens are pets/egg layers only) but your birds look fantastic.

Lovely birds------look like they are easy to sex too! I know nothing about them, are they exactly the same as our 'Derbyshire'Redcaps? They'd be good in the 'Breed of the Month' section! (Hint). Ros

Hi Sejjie70

Thank You and I am far from being a expert at showing/breeding :) . I just really enjoy having chickens around after a long day at work.

Hi All

My Redcaps aren't changing that much week by week so I will start posting pictures of them once a month. I will post a picture of them around August 17 they will be 5 months old.

Here is a link to a great website on Redcaps!

Here are a couple of pictures of a nest box I made this weekend for my Redcaps. I can gather their eggs without having to go inside their pen and bother them. :D

Hi All

I am still waiting on them to start laying. I have a golf ball in each nest to give them a ideal were to lay.

You don't look as if you need much advice! At a guess though I'd say go to shows and study the shape and size of the comb in the winners, and select your stock accordingly as soon as you are sure of the sex of the birds. Go for the largest best shaped combs. Redcaps are of course most famous for their combs.
