Hi

Can anyone help please as I am pretty to new to keeping chickens (and can't find answer to my problem in my books). I have just noticed that my Sussex is featherless underneath (breast area and in between her legs) and her skin is quite pink. Any ideas? She seems happy enough in herself and is still laying.

Many thanks

Alexa

If she is mite/louse free its probably that she has been sitting a lot, ? been broody or kept with no perches. It will grow back after moulting.Ros

i had a Sussex the same. Nothing wrong with her, no infection or anything. I put vaseline on the exposed bits & this helped with the redness.

Hi

same here, but I have most of mine with red underneaths, just noticed somebody sugested mites ,is this a symptom?
My girls had lice earlier in the year, horrible I was mortified when I found them, but got that sorted pretty fast with something from the vet.
The redness has looked pretty sore at times particularly on Colin ( the cockerel). If this is a symptom of mites it would explain why they have not been laying as well.
