I have an RCOM 20 Pro and have had successful hatches from it. I put 20 eggs in two weeks ago and after a week noticed the humidity had dropped to 29%. I sought advise and was told that it is likely that the humidity fan/pump has jammed because of dirt build up from hatchings. I was advised to keep going and that they will hatch. I've candled a few eggs more than once and the chicks appear to be growing well. The incubator keeps asking for water but is full (certainly the side that you put water in is). Temperature and turning are both fine. The advise I need please is how to get the humidity up for the last three days so that I get a successful hatch. Your time in answering this post will be appreciated, thank you.

Sounds as though the pump has failed Bonnie1. We have a Suro20 and don't trust it enough to incubate with it. It is quite right that in the UK with humidity so high generally you can incubate successfully 'dry', that is with no added water. For the last three days you realise correctly that the humidity must double at least. This can be achieved by putting 2 small pots of water into the incubator. These must be at incubator temperature. If you need less take a pot out, as it is all down to evaporation surface area, rather than the amount of water in the pot. Conversley if two pots isn't enough add another or put a bit of sponge or kitchen roll in one. Important the humidity stays over 65%. Presumably the humidity meter in the Suro20 is still working?

We have switched to cheap semi-auto incubators as they are inherently reliable.
