One of my chicks born 5 days ago is quieter than the others and often seems a bit sleepy. I'm not quite sure what could be wrong or whether it could be born with a weakness. It is from a bought in egg.

It may be it isn't eating and drinking Chickenfan, simply because it is a slow learner. As you know bought-in eggs can be of unreliable quality and it may be suffering from some deficiency, but first make sure it is feeding.

Thanks Chris. It has a full crop so is feeding, but spends most of the time under the electric hen unlike the others and often looks sleepy. I will try giving a multivit and some probiotics.

Sometimes the problem is simply genetic variation Chickenfan. Just as they develop different colouring and size they can also suffer from internal organ underdevelopment- just one of those things. But you are doing just what we would do before giving up.
