Has anyone tried to access Practical Poultry Forum? I clicked on my open tab this morning and get an error message saying the File or Directory not found and the site may have moved, changed name or be temporarily unavailable. I know they were doing some maintenance and then I had strange messages when trying to post, although the post did appear.

I've even tried accessing through a Google search but still get the same message.

I have heard the site has been hacked again. Rachel is working on it.

Tim does a great job - I'm not sure everyone realises just how much he does, I know I didn't until the last thread about PPF.

People may not realise that Tim regularly prunes the database, so that people who register but have not posted within a year are removed. This speeds the server for the forum, reduces running costs, and also gives a realistic number of the active members on the Forum. Tim's most recent cleanup cleared out about 500 dormant members, so the total number registered at present is 2683 (see bottom of the Index page.) I sometimes wonder whether forums that claim to have many thousands of members are actually carrying a very large number of dormant registrations, with inevitable results in the way the forum works. Especially when you remember that moderators like Tim, and Rachel on PP Forum, do all the work for free in their spare time.

i would like to voice thanks to tim and all who keep this site free of stupid people who hack into sites to which to all members can ask information about all things connected with poultry, once again thanks to tim and others who keep this site free from idiots.

That's exactly what I meant Marigold. The last time PPF was hacked, reported I think by Karmisnki, Tim posted that this forum is subject to attack. It's so easy to register on a forum and then never go back - I think I may be registered on a couple but haven't time to keep reading all the stuff, so I suspect that there are a huge number of dormant members on some of the others.

We, as ordinary members, should express our thanks to all the moderators for the work they do.

Thanks Tim & all the mods :-)17

PP still not online. Rachel still working on it.
